Dayton Nursing Home Introduces Resident

January 16, 2020
Maria Joseph would like to introduce you to one of our residents, Imogene. Imogene was born and raised in Michigan City, Indiana.

Her mother was a missionary in the church and her father was a minister and musician who tutored her in music. Imogene first started playing guitar as a young girl and then started playing the piano.

Not only can Imogene play several instruments, but she is also a great singer. She has dedicated her life to the ministry of the church. She has played for many churches in the city and still plays both guitar and organ every chance she gets.

During the middle of the day, you can often hear her singing and playing the organ in her room or down on the first floor of Emma. Her beautiful songs and music have often uplifted the residents and visitors as they gather around the organ.

Imogene had a career at Miami Valley Hospital, where she was a nursing assistant and later worked in a nursing home as a cook. She was blessed with seven children. Not only is Imogene musically talented, but she was also her class valedictorian in 1952 at Ada Hanna High in Indiana.

Imogene is 86 years young and is still full of life and joy!
